Group photoshoot in Singapore
There’s nothing quite like jumping in the deep end and getting stuck in to something new! Just a few days after arriving in Singapore for the start of our Big Adventure I’d arranged a photoshoot with a group of local models and make-up artists.
As with all free shoots (also known as TFP or TFCD) it’s hit and miss as to whether all or even any of the models will show up. With this in mind I invited as many as i could, trying to keep the numbers even. As expected some never showed but thankfully after waiting 40 minutes or so we finally tracked down 4 models and 3 makeup artists with a 4th model joining us later.
We found sanctuary in a well air conditioned shopping mall in Chinatown where the makeup artists set to work. The theme was along the lines of “Urban Playground” so we were going for bright, vibrant, bold and quirky in every sense. I wanted the models to get some interesting shots for their portfolios and wanted the makeup artists to really get creative. This also means taking more time so we didn’t get to shoot for over 90 minutes until the models looked the part. Even the male model had loads of makeup!
I think you’ll agree all their hard work was worth it though and it was great fun walking the baking hot streets of Singapore finding interesting locations. It was a real challenge for all concerned not only makeup and finding places to shoot but also working together with such a large number of models. Knowing who to pair with who, how to direct them. All a great challenge that was new to me.
On-location shoots are always a dive into the unknown, especially if you don’t have any specific locations in mind. It’s exciting and always produces results you never expect.
I’m really pleased with the photoshoot, some real gems were created and once again the number of usable shots exceeded my expectations.
